Discover Biowest’s range of products of human origin, including HIV-tested human serum, HIV-tested male AB serum, pooled human plasma, and Human Serum Albumin.
Plasma and serum are two distinct liquid components of blood, differentiated by their biochemical composition and methods of preparation. Plasma is the liquid fraction of blood obtained by centrifugation of a sample treated with an anticoagulant. It consists predominantly of water, electrolytes, nutrients, hormones, and proteins, including coagulation factors like fibrinogen. Serum, in contrast, is produced after blood coagulates, followed by centrifugation to remove the formed clot. While its composition is like plasma, serum lacks fibrinogen and other coagulation-related proteins, as these are consumed during the clotting process.
Human plasma and serum are collected from voluntary donors. The sterility is ensured through double 0.2µm filtration. All collections, imports, and processing comply with European regulations. Each batch undergoes rigorous testing and screening for hepatitis B (HBS), hepatitis C (HCV), and HIV types 1 and 2 (HIV-1/2). Most of our human serum and plasma is sourced from France, Germany, the United States, or other countries approved by the United States.
Human serum can be provided with specific treatments upon request.
Important: Products of human origin should always be treated as potentially infectious and handled with appropriate precautions.
