Phenol Red Sodium Salt – P5648
Phenol Red Sodium Salt – P5648
During cell growth, the medium pH can change due to metabolites released by the cells, or during bacterial contamination. The presence of phenol red, as a pH indicator in the culture medium, makes it possible to monitor these pH variations. At acidic pH levels, phenol red turns yellow, while at basic pH levels, it’s more of a dark pink. For most cell culture work (at pH 7.4), the medium should be red.
